I purchased an air bed at Wal-Mart, and after I opened it I got shocked by a strong “shower curtain” smell coming out of it. You may not know that vinyl smell is a deadly poison and sleeping on such a mattress would definitely ensure you get a harmful dose of it. This smell decreases but does not go away with time. Vinyl mattresses are believed to be responsible for some cases of SIDS and many toxic components of this smell causes some forms of cancers. I am surprised Wal Mart sells toxic products. Banned in over 14 countries and the European Union, PVC, also known as vinyl, is still legally sold by U.S. retailers although it threatens environmental and consumer health at every stage of its product life cycle, according to the Center for Health, Environment, and Justice (CHEJ). But it was more disappointing that it is a new policy of Wal-Mart that toxic items cannot be returned. From now on I am trying to avoid Wal-Mart. The prices at Wal-Mart may be low, but you may end up paying twice.

I refused to use this air bed and brought it back to Wal-Mart, unused but opened-box. To my surprise, customer service refused to take return and presented me some policy that they can only exchange it to the same item (made of the same material and equally toxic). The customer service manager, Leila, was rude and did not have basic customer handling skills. She only tried to convince me (using primitive social approval technique) that all air beds have odors and everyone uses them.

Seguimiento 09-jun-2010 18:09:36	After contacting the store manager, the problem has been resolved, they agreed to process the return as an exception. The problem has been resolved, I appreciate customer service of Tracy WalMart
